So far we have made over 3,000 free meals for the Los Angeles community! Help us make some more!
The evidence of need in Los Angeles is obvious. Homelessness has grown this year, and continues to grow. As young people, we realize the need in our community. Upon receiving the Girl’s Build LA Grant, we have built a base for Art4Equity to be a longstanding community space and project. Our goal is simply to feed our community, and to create a space that encourages community aid. Cafe Murmurs has provided us with a space to create and meet. Twice a week, our artists meet in their art space to brainstorm and make clothing. We use our grant money to supply our artists with art supplies and resources. With those resources, clothes are made and sold throughout LA, with most of our money coming from vintage stores. All proceeds go to making balanced, homemade meals for the Los Angeles Community Fridges, Future City Pantry, or Homey Made Meals - who distribute food to people in areas of need. In order to make the most impact, we partner with organizations who research what people want in terms of food, and where there is the most need. Over the course of the year, we have turned to making a larger number of vegan meals, as it accommodates to more food restrictions and is more sustainable. Some of our meals include veggie pizza, vegan pozole, mapo tofu, and handmade dumplings,
